Salvador Dali
Born: May 11, 1904
Death: Jan. 23,1989
Location: Spain
Style: Surrealism
Spanish artist, Dali is known for his
outlandish pieces of art. His subject matter
includes everyday objects portrayed in very
unique in otherwise questionable forms.
Vibrant colors and focus created a whole
other world. Some of his art is so far out
there that it seems as if he were on some
sort of hallucinogenic drugs.

Reginald Baylor
Born: Nov. 1966
Death:

---

Location: Milwaukee, WI.

Style: Fine Art
Local Milwaukee artist with a unique body of art.
Baylor creates graphic style works. His love and focus
for lines allows his style to show and create beautiful
pieces that capture the eye because of seemingly
random lines. Some of his art kind of reminds me of
blind contour portraits.

Techniques

acrylic on canvas

3D

graphite on paper

Reginald Baylor uses multiple mediums in his artworks. Ranging from acrylic on
canvas, 3D sculptural pieces, ink on paper, graphite on paper...etc. Yet, they all
still contain his signature style. Although each technique contains the same
linear style, it still manages to give off a different sort of feeling to each work.

Shepard Fairey
Born:
Feb. 15, 1970
Death: --Location: Charleston, SC
Style: Street Art, Fine art, graphic artist
Street art punk icon, Shepard Fairey emerged
from an era of street art and is trying to legitimize
the art form by bringing the street art into art
galleries. His art career began when he started
making t-shirts with his art during his skate/punk
phase. He became known for his ICON sticker
when as a joke he created an Andre the Giant
stencil when a friend asked him to teach him how
to create a stencil. The ICON has now become a
world symbol for Fairey and his Obey franchise.

The Persistence of
Memory features one of
his more traditional
background of a
landscape scene and
some sort of weird
element as Dali is used
to incorporating.

A lot of his work

(surrealist) makes us
question how we
perceive the
message and just
make us question
WHY?... Why are
the clocks melting?
why are they in the
middle of the
desert?

Includes 4 clocks
melting in an
otherwise empty
desert scene to
convey an
irregular
perception of time
we experience
when dreaming.

Conclusion
Overall my body of work created over the past two years
was affected by the 3 artists I chose to talk about in this
comparative study. Upon initial research they affected me
enough to try and emulate their styles, even in the smallest
bit.
