To whom it may concern:

I am very pleased to recommend Esmeralda Miguel for an opportunity to attend the Subiendo
program at UT. Esmeralda is a young women who continues to grow and develop each year.
Her zest for business and her equal desire for being in the medical industry and her overall
commitment to activities in the academy truly goes without notice. I am confident that her
combined attributes of teamwork, dedication and motivation will continue to be key components
for what is expected in the Subiendo program.
Unfortunately, Woodrow Wilson High School does not have a health services program for
students so Esmeralda chose to continue her elective pursuit in business. She chose this
pathway because one day she would like to own her own practice. She works extremely hard and
maintains an overall average high compared to her peers. She has been a proud member of all
activities to include her membership in DECA and truly is a committed participant. Esmeralda
also attended the summer Accounting Careers Accounting Program at Southern Methodist
University were her learning of the business world went way beyond the classroom during the
summer! Since, her attendance in this honorable program she has added great value to all of her
business classes and other students.
Esmeralda also understands what it means to give back to her community. She has participated
in our financial literacy program through a partnership with Junior Achievement in a program
called High School Heros. Esmeralda with a group of her peers taught elementary students the
importance of understanding finances based on grade appropriate curriculum. This alone will
help the community grow and develop! In addition, Esmeralda is certified in Health Savings
Accounts, Ethics and Basic Tax return preparation with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), were
this year, she will complete taxes for the community through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance
program (VITA). Esmeralda understands completely at a young age, the concept of business.
Esmeralda is a natural leader. It is rare that I find someone so young with such motivation to
improve the world. Esmeralda will be the first in her family to attend college. This is her first goal
and will one day be a true aid to society.
It is clear to me as I hope it is to you that this young lady, Esmeralda Miguel, is an exceptional
candidate for the Subiendo program. I wholeheartedly recommend her and wish her the very best
in all future endeavors
