Dear Year 1 Purple Parents

Tomorrow is a very exciting day, our first swimming carnival!

To help the day run smoothly, there are some matters we could like to clarify and bring to your attention.
-

The swimming carnival begins over at the pool at

o 11:30 for students that nominated 25m swims (and returned the form to me)
o 12:00 for all other Year 1 students for non-competitive events
Parents will have areas in which they can sit, please await the instructions of the announcer.
Your child is not able to sit with you at any time during the carnival
Teachers maintain duty of care for your child the whole time, they are to be in their sight at all events,
including breaks. There is only a short break allocated to each group on the timetable. Students will
have ALREADY had their 1st break (sandwich etc) before coming to the pool, so their break time will be
for the other snacks in their lunchbox. Please do not buy your child meals from the swimming canteen.
Please pack your childs togs in their swimming bag with
o Towel
o Swimming cap
o Goggles (if they use them)
o Sunscreen
For this day, do not put your childs togs on under their uniform, we will get them changed and keep all
their belongings in the classroom.

The students In Year 1 will be broken into 2 groups (boys and girls) and will travel around with this group for
each event.
Ms McLady, Mrs Castelli and Mrs Garcia will be responsible for the girl cohort
Mrs Moffatt, Miss Green and Mrs Fritsch will be responsible for the boy cohort.
Your child will remain with these teachers until the end of the carnival. ALL Year 1 class will then proceed back
to the classrooms to get changed.
At 3pm the students will then be dismissed as per USUAL from their classrooms
Due to Year 1 eating before the carnival, we will pack some of their 2nd break items into a small bag (supplied by
us) each and transport these in a suitable container for the class. We appreciate you not sending anything that
needs to remain cold for this. Students in Year 1 should then not need any canteen food; remember we are
doing activities such as slip and slide, so canteen type food would not be advisable.
Please remember and respect the teachers that have care of your child tomorrow. Your child must participate in
all fun events and you are the spectators (just like the athletics carnival last year) that remain at a safe distance
from each event.
We look forward to an exciting day tomorrow!
