compositionwithPaulBoepple,pianowithHelenSchnabelandorganwithCarl
Weinrich.AftergraduatingfromBenningtonCollege,shereturnedtoParisin1946to
continueherstudieswithDariusMilhaud,SimonePlCaussadeandOlivier
MessiaenattheParisConservatory.Shehaswonmanyawards,includingthoseof
theCopleyFoundationofChicago,theAmericanAcademyofArtsandthe
KoussevitskyFoundation,becomingamemberoftheAmericanInstituteofArtsand
Lettersin1983.JolaswasappointedtothefacultyoftheParisConservatoryin1975,
andhasalsotaughtatseveralAmericanuniversitiesincludingYale,Berkeley,USC,
SanDiegoandMillsCollege.Herworks,writtenforagreatvarietyofcombinations,
havebeenpremierednotablybytheDomaineMusical,atthefestivalsof
TanglewoodandRoyanandhavebeenwidelyperformedthroughouttheworldby
suchartistesasMadyMespl,ClaudeHelfer,ElisabethChojnacka,PierreYves
Artaud,andbyleadingensembles(EnsembleIntercontemporain,LincolnCenter
ChamberMusicSociety,LondonSinfonietta,BostonSymphonyChamberPlayers,
etc.).HerworkshavebeenrecordedbyEMI,Erato,CRI,Adsamongothersand
havereceivedvariousimportantawards.
