The video recording act is an act passed that and recordings that were for sale or

hire had to be certified by the authority designated Home Office. It is an offence

under the Act to supply video works to individuals who are (or appear to be)
under the age of the classification designated. Works that are refused
classification cannot, under the Act, be legally sold or supplied to anyone of any
age unless it is educational, or to do with a sport, religion or music and does not
depict violence, sex or incite a criminal offence.
The copy right law is important as if your work isnt copyrighted then people can
take credit for it and possibly sue you for copyright infringement if they claim it
as their own. Its purpose is to protect the creators of a piece of work. It protects
the creators of the product. If the copyright law is broken then you will receive a
polite email asking you to take down the copyright material and if you dont
comply you could get a fine of up to 100,000. An example in film of copyright
infringement is between Star wars and Battlestar Galactica. An example of this is
how a character in Battlestar Galactica is called Skyler, which was seen as a rip
off to Star Wars Skywalker. In the end the case was decided in favour of
Galactica two years later. Unfortunately, however, the original Battlestar
Galactic" had been cancelled and cinemas were looking forward to seeing The
Empire Strikes Back.
The film act introduced a requirement for British cinemas to show a quota of
British films, for a duration of 10 years. So far it has hindered the business. It led
to quickie quotas which were cheap, low quality, quick quotas.
Use of language. When using language you want to be very careful not to offend
anyone as this could lead to legal issues. For example the use of vulgar
language, sexist, racist remarks can be seen as highly offensive. When
employing someone you want to give everyone an equal chance, no matter
gender, race, religion etc. Encouraging diversity will result in different points of
view which would lead to a diverse interpretation of the media. An ethical issue
in the production sector is use of language as when promoting the production
bad language can lead to bad publicity.
Both men and women are represented as very well-known experienced people
who have a lot of influence over the industry. Some examples of these types of
producers are: Sylvester Stallone, Angelina Jolie, George Lucas, Kathleen
Kennedy, Walt Disney and Barbara Broccoli.
Many of the producers havent different religious faiths and beliefs. Some of
those are made public by producers such as Mel Gibson. Whereas other
producers prefer to keep their beliefs a secret.
Men and women should be represented equally by the specific style of film.
The industry represents people fairly according to their work. So if their work and
productions are bad, then they may have a bad representation.
