Continue to write narrative, expository, persuasive, and descriptive essays

Viewing, Listening and Speaking:
Students will:
Deliver focused, coherent presentations that convey ideas clearly
Evaluate the content of Oral communication
View advertising, publications and evaluate for bias, accuracy and

Grades for the class will be calculated on a system of points based on the following:

At the end of the card marking, your grade will be determined by dividing your total
number of points by the total number of possible points, using the following scale:
A = 100 90
C = 79 70
B = 89 - 80
P = Progressing, but has not met grade level expectations
U = Unsatisfactory less than 70%
* It is to your benefit to record and save each assignment until you receive your final
grade. If there is a dispute about your grade and you do not have the graded assignment,
the grade in Power School will stand. You should also keep this syllabus in your folder.
Late Work
All assignments are due on the announced day during the hour the class meets.

If a student is absent the day an assignment is due, the assignment is due the day the
student returns to school.
All makeup work is due two days after the student returns to school. It is the students
responsibility to request ALL makeup work before or after class.
Class Rules:
1. Students are expected to come to class on time, per the school policy
2. Students are expected to bring all supplies (including assignments, pen or pencil,
notebook, laptop, and books) to class every day * Failure to bring all supplies may result
in a loss of participation points for the day
3. Students are expected to treat people and their property with respect
4. Students are expected to follow all school rules
*Students who do not follow the rules may be require to call a parent and or ask to leave the
room.

has been used, no other late assignments will be accepted for any reason.
