Subject: SJCO Comm'r meeting - "racist" video
Mark, Steve and Eric,
check out this 3 minute video on Monte Well's facebook page; he attempts to paint kenneth
maryboy as a racist
https://www.facebook.com/ThePetroglyph
This might not be useful for your lawsuit against SJCO, but it's a good example of what goes on
in SJCO Comm'n meetings.
In summary: At Monday's SJCOCO mtg, Kenneth was chairing the meeting, Bruce Adams was
attending the meeting via phone. Bruce announced the recent death of Keith Price (potash
developer) and Monte goes after Kenneth's remark as racist (it wasn't). Later Kenneth asked
Mark to make some comments about the Dine Bikeyah proposal as part of the Bishop public land
initiative. Mark asked Kenneth, in Navajo, how the COCO voted on the Bishop process b/c
Mark got to the mtg. late and didn't know how the COCO had voted. The person w/ the highpitched voice asking for a translation is Monte Wells, not a woman (his voice always surprises
me).
Since nearly 1/2 of SJCO residents are Navajo, is the county supposed to have a translator at the
County Comm'n meetings?
I think you can get the entire audio tape of the meeting from the Norman Johnson, the county
clerk, if you're interested.
happy holidays!
