Question 1: Compare the angle obtained in the four (4) different methods and discuss the results.

Method
Sine Bar
Bubble Clinometer
Bevel Protractor
Combination Square Set

Angle of Specimen 1, 1/ (o)

25.8
26 + 4
25 + 50
26

Angle of Specimen 2, 2/ (o)

15.0
15 + 19
15
15.0

The angle for the Sine Bar method was obtained through a calculation, namely; sin -1[h/l]. Where h is the
height of the assembly of gauge blocks and l is the length of the sine bar.
The angle for the bubble clinometers method was obtained by reading the values from the main scale and
the knob and the addition of its zero error. Example for the angle of specimen 2: 14.39 + 40= 15 + 19
The zero error measured is 40 (red)
The angles of both the 3rd and the 4th method were obtained directly from their respective instruments.
Question 7: Record and comment on the resolution of each instrument used.

In the bubble clinometers method, the knob of the clinometer shows a greater resolution followed by the
bevel protractor and the combination square set.
Question 10: Which method yielded the most reliable result? Explain your answer.
The Bubble Clinometer method provided the most reliable result.
The Knob of the clinometer provides a resolution of 1 ( 1 min) and this provides a more accurate reading
compared to the other methods.
