BULLETIN OVERVIEW
Upgrade Issue:
The admin password reverts to the default value after upgrading from Fabric OS v6.1.2 to a
Fabric OS v6.2.x release prior to Fabric OS v6.2.2d.
Downgrade Issue:
The password database becomes corrupted after downgrading from Fabric OS v6.2.2c or
below to Fabric OS v6.1.x. As a result, the user is unable to login.

PROBLEM STATEMENT
When the customer upgrades or downgrades between Fabric OS v6.1.x and v6.2.x, the user database
and password file formats may change and become corrupted.
Downgrade case: Unable to login to the switch after a firmware downgrade occurs from Fabric OS

v6.2.2c or below to Fabric OS v6.1.x.

Upgrade case: Admin password reverted to default value after firmwaredownload from Fabric OS

v6.1.2 to Fabric OS v6.2.2c or below.

RISK ASSESSMENT
Any upgrade or downgrade described above will result in either a corrupted password database or an
admin account that has had its password set to default.

SYMPTOMS
Downgrade: The customer has just downgraded from a Fabric OS prior to v6.2.2d to Fabric OS v6.1.x.
After the switch reboots, the user is unable to login to the switch.
Upgrade: The customer has just upgraded from Fabric OS v6.1.x to a Fabric OS prior to v6.2.2d. After
the upgrade, the admin account password resets to the default value.

WORKAROUND
Any upgrade to the Fabric OS v6.2.x code base must be to Fabric OS v6.2.2d.
Do not downgrade from Fabric OS v6.2.x without first upgrading to Fabric OS v6.2.2d or above. This
will prevent database corruption.

CORRECTIVE ACTION
Upgrade to FOS v6.2.2d or above.
