BULLETIN OVERVIEW
IBM supports a limited number of Fabric OS releases for the Brocade 8Gb and 4Gb SAN Switch
Modules for IBM BladeCenter. Users must not install any unsupported version of Fabric OS on a
Brocade SAN Switch Module for IBM BladeCenter.
Brocade produces and publishes Technical Support Bulletins to OEMs, partners and customers that
have a direct, entitled, support relationship in place with Brocade.
Please contact your primary service provider for further information regarding this topic and
applicability for your environment

PROBLEM STATEMENT
Presently, IBM supports Fabric OS v6.2.0e, v6.2.1b or v6.2.2b on Brocade 4Gb SAN Switch
Module for IBM BladeCenter. Do not install any other Fabric OS v6.2.x release on these switch
modules. Review the information on the firmware download site and consult the release notes
before installing any Fabric OS release on your switch module. Failure to follow the version
specific instructions may result in unexpected failures. As new versions are qualified, they will be
posted at this URL:

for IBM BladeCenter. Do not install any other Fabric OS v6.2.x release on these switch modules.
Review the information on the firmware download site and consult the release notes before
installing any Fabric OS release on your switch module. Failure to follow the version specific
instructions may result in unexpected failures. As new versions are qualified, they will be posted

RISK ASSESSMENT
Installing a version of Fabric OS not listed on the IBM support websites may result in unexpected
failures. The failures may force a switch replacement.

WORKAROUND
Install a version of Fabric OS listed on the IBM support websites referenced above.

CORRECTIVE ACTION
As instructed on the IBM support websites referenced above, install only the supported Fabric OS
releases assigned to each switch module.
