In my research I learned that domestic violence holds a big chunk of Police calls. Therefore I was not
surprisedwhendomesticviolencecallsmadeupthemajorityofmymentorhours.

My mentor hours contained lots of driving around Mooresville and occasionally stopping cars for traffic
violations. My mentors and I periodically responded to calls such as domestic disturbances, K9Unitbackup,
etc.

theproduct?

Working with my mentor gave me a better understanding of a day in the life of a Law Enforcement
Officer and that Internet users need to respect the law. Crimes committed over the internet will not be
overlooked.

Creating my presentation for the middle school and completing myhourschallengedmebecausemytopicwas

new tome,andIhadnoexperiencewiththeLawEnforcement field.Becauseofmylackofexperience,I purely
hadtorelyonmymentorsandmyresearchformyproduct.

The NC Wise Owl database was a completely new concept that I had to worry about when doing my
research,andIcansaythatIhadtostretchasalearnerandindividualtocompletethePRIDEprocess.

In the months following my interview with my original mentor, he was shot on duty responding to adomestic
disturbance in Cornelius. Although he has now made afullrecovery,IdecidedtofindanewmentorsoIwould
notinterferewithhisphysicaltherapyandmoreimportantmatters.

The Pride Process has taught me important communication skills such as cordinating an event that I useinthe
