Leadership
Astronomy Club Secretary/Webmaster. Introduced telescope engineering and astrophotography to the
club. Serving as experienced project lead. Organize outreach events, secure funding and manage
finances for telescope building and trips to observing sites. (April 2014 Present)
Research Experience
GT Brown Lab: cold molecular ions/quantum information. Simulating (classically simulable) 7-qubit
quantum error-correcting codes acting on various quantum channels and error models with Python.
Algorithm design for generating a linear mapping of black-box quantum dynamical systems from
simulated outputs, via quantum process tomography. (Fall 2015 Present)
GT Soft Condensed Matter Lab: statistical mechanics and kinetics of nucleation and liquid
crystallization of colloidal systems at the micro-scale. MATLAB image processing, and sample
preparation. Analyzed video content to produce models for nucleation rates as a function of polymer
concentrations and cross-linking. Application in biological, chemical and material sciences. (Fall 2014)
Extracurricular Experience
NASA Undergraduate Student Launch Initiative (Fall 2014 - Spring 2015). International competition,
with the goal of designing and implementing a fully autonomous launch of a single-stage recoverable
and reusable rocket that will reach its target apogee at high precision.
o Rocket sub-team: engineered an Apogee Targeting System (ATS) which will maintain a desired
rocket trajectory with a feedback control system that manipulates extendable drag plates to
minimize rocket overshoot. Responsible for the control system design and programming, fluid
analysis of drag components, and mechanical CAD design.
o AGSE sub-team: Collaborated with peers in the design and manufacture of a mobile ground
platform that can insert payload, erect the rocket from a horizontal position, and ignite it without
human intervention through the implementation of motion sensors and computer control of
robotic arm and platform dynamics as an ordered sequence of events (Autonomous Ground
Support Equipment).
o Contributed in technical proposal writing. Proposals were accepted by NASA, and our team (GT
ARES) competed in Huntsville Alabama. The test launch and final launch were carefully
documented via video and avionics sensor readings, so that technical difficulties could serve as
learning outcomes for future competitions.

Building a 14-inch f/5 Dobsonian Telescope from raw material (October 2013-Present)
o Figuring the primary mirror to optical precision of less than 40 nanometers through methodical
analysis of optical tests.
o Structural analysis of stresses, loads and deformations of the primary mirror figure and telescope
frame via finite element methods. Rigid construction of mounting, truss pole connectors and
steel tailgate.
o Design of a tracking system that tracks celestial objects at the sidereal rate via potentiometers
communicating with servo motors.
o Improving optical manufacturing methodologies with the design and implementation of an
original automated grinder for future mirror making endeavors.
GT Rescue Robots (Spring 2014): Collaborated with graduate students in land rover design and
recovery. Tested and analyzed parachute performance, rover range, endurance and ruggedness, with the
objective of the rover being able to navigate to a target destination upon being deployed from a rocket
launch. Acquired CAD and machine-assisted manufacturing skills.
Work Experience
Software Engineering Intern at L3 National Security Solutions (Reston, VA). (Summer 2015)
o Front-end and back-end programming for the RFID Asset Management Solutions Modernization
project, using C# as the back-end language and HTML/CSS/Javascript for front-end.
o Programmed functionality features for Asset Management with a contemporary user perspective
in mind. Programmed different roles and user access levels. Rigorous debugging and unit testing.
o Login page design/functionality and product branding (logo name and design).
o Learned development practices and pacing via the use of JIRA-Agile Sprint planning. Presented
project updates and personal contributions to customers at the end of 2-week sprint cycles.
o Self-taught programming languages on off-hours and learned on the job.
