TOYOTA POWER STEERING PUMP INSTRUCTIONS _-= Resenvor _ At Contot Vato —— O-Ring NOTICE: your ATSCO replacement unit is not supplied with a reservoir or utilizes a remote reservoir, it 1s EXTREMELY IMPORTANT that you follow the reservoir filtering screen cleaning instructions below. Failure to do so may result in a whine or moaning noise from the pump and damage to the system. A) RESERVOIR OR INLET TUBE REMOVAL: 1) Secure original unit in a vise 2) Remove all reservoir or inlet tube mounting bois. 3) Remove reservoir or inlet tube from pump housing, 4) Remove old O-Ring from reservoir or inlet tube and discard, B) RESERVOIR CLEANING: 1) Using a flashlight inspect the filtering screen located inside of reservoir. The screen should be completely clean, If ‘contamination is present, submerse reservoir in parts cleaner (We have found carburetor cleaner to be the most effective), Allow to soak for at Union Seat least 30-60 minutes. Remove from cleaner. dry thorqughly’ and re-inspect filtering screen for debris. If screen is completely clean, flush reservoir thoroughly with ATF Dexron or Dexron 11 prior ta installation, ©) RESERVOIR OR INLET TUBE INSTALLATION: 1) Secure ATSCO replacement unit in a vise 2) Install new O-Ring supplied with your ATSCO replacement unit onto reservoir cr inlet tube. 3) Some units use an O-Ring on the reservoir mounting bolt, if so replace with O-Ring supplied. 4) BEFORE INSTALLING RESERVOIR OR INLET TUBE BE SURE TO LUBRICATE O-RINGS WITH ATF DEXRON OR DEXRON I. 5) While installing, gently rotate reservoir or inlet tube back and forth while applying pressure downwards repeat this process until reservoir or inlet tube is flush with mounting surface and mounting holes are properly aligned. 6) Insert mounting bolts and tighten to 9 1. Ibs. D) _ INVERTED FLARE UNION SEAT REMOVAL & INSTALLATION: 1) If your ATSCO replacement unit is not supplied with an inverted flare union seat in either the pressure port union or the air control valve port (if applicable), it is necessary to transfer the union seat Sn your original unit. The union sest will generally just foll out. If no, distodge it with a small screwdriver. To Install the tunion seat, simply place it into the corresponding port in the ATSCO unit and install the pre-sure hose and/or the air control valve. Torque 0 27 ft Ibs. this will adequately seat the union. £) BELT TENSION: NOTICE: It is extremely important that you follow the belt tension specifications listed below. Faclure 10 do so may result in premaiure bearing failure which could lead to front shaft seal leakage.
