From the Field to the Museum: Modern Approaches to

Cultural Heritage and Engagement

CALL FOR PAPERS

The relationship between archaeology and the public is increasingly recognised as an inseparable aspect for
the sustainable management of cultural heritage and the archaeological discipline.

The Society for Archaeological Masters Students (SAMS) at the University College London invites all students
and alumni from any university to submit an abstract regarding Modern Approaches to Cultural Heritage and
Engagement. Potential areas of discussion may include:

Public engagement

Heritage studies

Archaeological techniques

Site management

The role of archaeology in society at large

Ethics of museum display

Multidisciplinary research is particularly welcomed.

The conference will be held at UCL on the 3rd of June, 2016. Successful applicants will be expected to deliver
15-20 minute presentations on their topic.

Abstracts of no more than 250 words should be submitted by 11th of April, 2016 to
IoA-SAMS@ucl.ac.uk with Abstract submission in the subject line.
