The patient has agreed to:

Switch from whole milk to skim milk to reduce fat intake
Exchange white bread to whole grain bread to slow down gastric emptying & increase intestinal transit time, which delays glucose absorption
Try a smoothie in the morning in order to get another serving of raw leafy vegetables and add more CHO to breakfast.
Snack on a granola bar instead of a donut to reduce grams of fat and carbohydrates, yet still satisfy her craving for a sweet snack.
Reduce serving size of meat for both lunch and dinner to reduce protein intake.
Choose a small apple vs. a medium apple at lunch-time so she can add grapes in her salad for dinner. This evens out CHO distribution.
Cut down starchy vegetables (corn and mashed potatoes) to half and no gravy. Also evens out CHO distribution, and also reduces fat
intake.
Try a variety of vegetables such as broccoli and asparagus, fruits such as grapes and pineapple, as well as new snacks such as rice cakes
and cottage cheese to hold her over between meals.
