MGM Answers to questions

Why do you want to be a convener?

Our committee needs 3 things as of now -Someone to talk to the
management and maintain the good relation which I feel I would be able to
manage. We need to be more structured as a team- we have already taken
initiatives in this regard but better coordination can be managed which I am
sure I can implement. And interactions with our batch, other committees and
upcoming junior batch-this would not be an issue as I already interact with a
lot of people on a regular basis and would continue doing so. I have already
taken on similar roles at school and under-graduation level. Most importantly
I feel I can keep the team together as a unit without any ego hassles.
I am, in all due honesty extremely attached to the committee and any
success of MGM
is always a matter of pride. I would continue to
work with the same enthusiasm an energy irrespective of results devoting
the same amount of time if not more. If however, I am given the
responsibility, the teams interest as a whole would always be a priority over
my own. Any good ideas would always get the chance to flourish. I would
strive to make it a committee we are proud to be a part of- Goal would be to
be one of the top committees here at Tapmi so that the upcoming batches
are vying to be a part of the team.
What do you intend to achieve once you are the convener?
Things are finally looking up for MGM and this would be the time to not
slacken. I would like to specifically look towards keeping the committee
active throughout the year with some offering or the other to keep the tempo
going.
1. M-Power
Well start post mid-term of PGP 1 of the upcoming batch so that
we have ample time to schedule the sessions without them being
too close to each other. (Given the feedback we got)
2. CMO leadership lectures
Well pitch to the CMOs with help from placecom and Vidya
Pratap Maam along with inputs from Prof VM and Jayanthi
Thanigan.
3. Informal sessions before M-power
We can try to get prominent people who can share their
experiences. Given the response to Shri Annamalais session, this
could be very well received. Ex: Creative heads from Ogilvy and
Mather
4. Marketer of the month

5.

6.
7.
8.

We will keep this up. Some events could be debate, quiz, brandwars, caption it, video-crunching, ad-mad, poster designing,
cross-word, B-Plan, article writing,
Extempore, Games designed to check Negotiation skills (like
greeting card game)
Better Management of Social Media
Weve had a discussion amongst us juniors. Twitter handle would
be more active-specifically tweeting and following big
companies, and an instagram page would be introduced to be an
informal mode of presence for the committee. We have already
liked pages of prominent B-schools and are closely following
them. Also facebook page will be active with posts atleast twice
a week. Also, well be target key professionals on Linkedin.
We should have our own web-page. Take for example the IMT
Ghaziabad marketing club- MarkUp http://www.clubmarkup.com/
Other than LiMEs blog NO other committee has done this in
Tapmi
All our Social Media handles will be integrated here
Online competitions on Dare2Compete for people other than
Tapmians to participate in Tapmi without needing to physically
travel down.
Work on taking up live projects for the batch
Tie-ups with other societies- MGM Marathon
We can keep events in collaboration with other societies example
Budgeting for launch of new product Judged by Fin Forum
Debate Judged by LiMe
Case Study- By Professors
Ad-mad- in collaboration with LiMe
These would be mutually beneficial- in terms of reach and depth.
Further it would ensure greater transparency in judgment in view
of the batch.

How would you go about achieving this vision?

I would constantly be in touch with the management to gain their support
and guidance for approval and to propose new ideas along with the team.
Further, I have support to design the website and get it running. Since Ive
been interacting with almost all societies collaborating with them should not
be much of an issue.
As for event specific Co-ordination as a team we have resolved to divide the
work and the division would be done by the SPOC wholl be appointed in a

rotational basis. Whatever work is assigned by the same to the person

concerned shall be undertaken in the time specified. No matter what post,
Spoc shall be adhered to.
For day to day work I propose to divide ourselves with some permanent
responsibilities whom I would keep checking up with without limiting their
creativity.
Who else, apart from you, would you nominate as a convener?
(Provide just a name among the remaining four)
Convener: Saurabh Doshi.
