Fluid Mechanics

Assignment-1
Note: Solve these question and submit a hand written report by March 2 me or Mr.
Ishtiaq/Imran in H-Block.
Q1.Solve the following problems of F.M white, P2.11 to P2.23 and P2.30 to P2.46. The
problems referred here are in accordance with the book placed in my folder.
Q2.An oil-filled inclined leg manometer is used to measure small pressure changes across an
air filter in a process vent pipe. If the oil travels a distance of 12 cm along the leg which
is inclined at an angle of 20 to the horizontal, determine the gauge pressure across the
filter. The density of oil is 800 kgm-3.

Q3.Given Pressure =155 kPa, Atmospheric Pressure =98 KPa Absolute pressure?
Q4.Determine the pressure at a depth of 5m for water.
Q5.Compute the gage pressures at pts. A, B, C, D, E and F with oil has a specific gravity=0.9

Q6.Compute the pressure at A.

Q7.Determine the difference in pressure between points A and B. Specific wt of water = 62.4
lb/ft3.

Q8.A pressure gage at 19.0 ft from bottom of tank reads = 13.19 psi. Another at 14 ft, reads =
15.12 psi. Compute specific wt, density, and specific gravity of fluid in the tank.

A reservoir of CCl4 has mass of 500 kg and a volume of 0.315 m3. Find the
weight, density, specific weight and specific gravity.
