Brief Summary of The Book of Jonah

The Book of Jonah is the most familiar book of the Minor Prophets, because
of the famous story of Jonah and the great fish. There is a possibility that the book
is about Jonah and not written by him. The author expresses how Jonah refused
God’s call to preach to the people of Nineveh. Nineveh was the great capital of
Assyria, the empire that would later invade Israel and carry the people into
captivity. The Assyrians had the reputation of being cruel people of all the great
nations. Christ Himself confirms the authenticity of Jonah and the amazing miracle
of repentance of Nineveh.
