The music activity

Activity name : Graphic scores


The type of the activity : music activity (using instruments)
Theme : the fruits and vegetables theme.
The learning outcomes:
Identify the name and the sound of Instruments
Recognize the fruits and vegetables.

Description:
Graphic scores activity is a music activity. Teacher will explain this activity for the students (she will
make the tune by draw the symbol (fruits and vegetables) in the paper. After that she will tell them
that the symbol that she draw it will represent the tune. For example: if she draw two apple which
represent the drum she will knock drum twice.
I choose this activity because students will play music tools which make them feel interested. Also
this activity will develop students cognitive and physical skills. This activity will make students
recognize the sound of the music tools. Teacher can use this activity if she have to teach the fruits
and vegetable lesson in the foods theme. Also, she can use this activity if she teach any symbol such
as: animal, weatheretc.

The learning domains:


This activity will develop students language skills when they gains new vocabulary (the names of
music tools, tuneetc). Graphic scores activity will help students to develop their physical skills
when they play the music and draw the tune. This activity will develop cognitive skills when they
memorize the name of the instruments and the name of fruits and vegetable. The students will
develop their social skills through this activity when they make a tune in pairs.
This activity is for special needs students. In this activity the special needs students will choose the
instruments that suitable to them. For example: if the teacher have hearing impairment students or
blind students in her classroom she can give them a drum to play with it.

The teacher will explain the activity for the students . First
she make a tune (by draw fruit and vegetable in paper to
represent the tune) and she will tell them that each fruit or
vegetable will represent one musics tool.

Students will observer what teacher do.

She will play the tune by using the musics tools.

Students will observer what teacher do. Also they will listen to
the tune.

She will ask the students to work in pairs to make the tune.
Also, she will observe them while they do their work.

Each pairs will have paper and colors to make a tune (by draw
the fruit and vegetable). Then they will choose the music tools
that they will play with.

She will ask each pairs to explain their tune.

Each pairs will demonstrate their tune (what fruit and


vegetable they choose and what the music tool it represent) .

The teacher will ask students to play their tune by music


tools that they choose.

Extension Ideas:
Teacher could ask students to play their tune in the assembly. Also, she could use the flash cards instead of draw the symbols.

The learning outcomes:
Identify the animal that live in the farm.
Recognize the sound of animals.
Understand the world.

Description
Old Macdonald had a farm is a music activity. The teacher will choose the animal and she will sing
with the students the part of this animal that she choose. For example: if she choose the duck she
will sing with the students this part old Macdonald had a farm E, I, E, I, O and on this farm he had a duck with a
quack, quack here and a quack, quack there, here a quack, there a quack, everywhere a quack, quack.

I choose this activity because it will make students Identify the animal that live in the farm and their
name. Also, recognize the animals sound. In addition this activity will improve mathematical skills
when teacher ask them math question (how many animals in the farm? How many legs dose the cow
has?). Teacher can use this music activity if she teach the animals farm lesson in animals theme.

The learning domains


Old Macdonald had a farm activity will develop the students cognitive skills because they will
identify the animals that live in the farm and animals sounds. Also they will improve their cognitive
skills through answer the teacher questions. Also, this activity will develop social skills in the
students sing together. The students will develop their language skills through the activity because
when they sing the song they will gain new vocabulary (for example: farm, here, there and the name
of the animal. In addition, the old Macdonald had a farm activity will develop the students emotion
skills because they will feel happy when they sing the song.

Theory :
This activity will apply different theories. When teacher praise the students she will apply skinners
theory who believe Positive reinforcement strengthens a behavior by providing a consequence an
individual finds rewarding (McLeod, 2015).

Extension Ideas:
Instead of making students discover the name of animal by searching in the picture (that represent in the smart
board) she can use animals puppet to make them discover the next animal.

Theme : different theme (for example: the directions or transportation).
The learning outcomes:

Recognize the transportation (or different types that in the song) .
Understand the world.

Description
Up, Up, Up is a music activity. In this activity teacher will sing with the students while they play
instruments. In this activity the students will use different activity such as: Drum, Xylophone,
Maracas, Tambourine and Triangle.
I choose this activity because it include topics that related to the natural. These topics are:
directions, transportations, weather some of animalsetc. I think this activity will make students feel
interest because they will sing while they play an instrument. Teacher can use this activity when she
want to teach a lesson that related to the natural.

The learning domains


This activity will develop students cognitive skills and language skills when they recognize and
memorize new vocabulary in different topics. Also, they will develop physical skills while they use
different instruments. This activity will develop students social skills when they sing and play
instruments together. In addition, this activity will develop students emotional skills when they feel
interest.

Theory :
This activity apply different theories such as: Krashen who believes when teachers care about
students emotional (make them feel comfortable and happy) that make them learn.

Teacher can use this activity for special need students if she have them in her class.
