All But Blind Analysis
In the poem, All But Blind, by Walter de la Mare, is a very confusing
poem. For those who dont know, Walter de la Mare is an English poet, was
born on April 25, 1873, in London, United Kingdom and died on June 22,
1956, in Twickenham, United Kingdom. For schooling, he went to St. Pauls
Cathedral School, in London, United Kingdom. The poem All But Blind, by
Walter de la Mare is about someone or something that is blind and he talks
about what he is blind to. For example, some of the things that he was blind
to was the four-clawed mole, the hooded bat, the barn owl, and someone. In
the poem, there were fifteen lines, four stanzas, and an ABCB rhyme
scheme. The rhyme scheme meant that in each stanza, two of the last words
rhymed, while the other last two words didnt. Some of the things that I
didnt understand were if the person was a person or an animal and some of
the vocabulary words. After reading the poem more and more, I understood
that it was a person, who is blind to a mole, bat, and owl. The vocabulary
words that I didnt understand were gropes and blunders. Thankfully, I
researched their meaning and I now know what they mean. I believe that
there is a moral to every poem, and the moral to this poem is that you will at
least be blind to someone.
