Effect on Teaching and Learning

- Possibility of larger group work - e.g. when teaching
recorders and group performance and composition
will enable more personalised learning
- To begin to develop a private instrumental program
within the school offering lessons in 1 or 2
instruments
- Provide opportunity for bands to practice after school
- Students have opportunity to compose using online
software such as Garage Band, Noteflight etc
particularly important at GCSE and A/AS Level
- Continue to develop the instrumental program in the
school offering lessons in 3 or 4 different instruments
- Use of keyboards to ensure that all our students have
a basic understanding of music notation and are able
to perform music that is appropriate to their ability.
- Further opportunities for cross curricular
collaboration across the arts
- Students will have a dedicated high quality
performance space where they can share their
learning
- Further opportunities to develop instrumental
programme and personalise learning with small
group performances and composition
- Providing a hub for creativity and the arts in South
Bali

Space/Development required
1) Create a second teaching space for larger group work (12 students max)
complete with projector and sound (approx. 30m2)
2) Create 1 or 2 smaller practice room spaces (approx. 12m2)
**To achieve 1 and/or 2 above we may need to find an alternative space for the
Gamelan instruments
1) Creating 2 more smaller practice room spaces (approx. 8-10m2)
2) Create a music tech area complete with set of mac computers and
keyboards (can be within existing music room)
**If the Primary school goes to 2 form entry then we will need to have a second
music classroom
Create a dedicated Performing Arts Centre containing:
1) Multi purpose performance space (seating 200-300 people)
2) 2 large fully equipped music suites (one containing Music tech suite)
3) 5 smaller sound proof practice rooms leading off the main music rooms
4) Recording studio
5) Dance Studio
6) Black Box theatre
