The 2016 school year has begun and it has been long days but the effort is paying off in seeing a child receive her uniform, schools supplies on the 1st day of school. We however changed our mission house into a warehouse for school supplies, shoes, and uniforms. Our intern is learning so much in what goes into organizing, purchasing, and packing for each individual child.

2016 School Sponsorship Updates
By: Michael J Miller Jr. Our 2016 year has begun and it has been long days but the effort is paying off in seeing a child, like Dulce Milagros in the top photo receiving her uniform, schools supplies on the 1st day of school. She, like the 260 plus sponsored children are gearing up for a long studious year. We however changed our mission house into a warehouse for school supplies, shoes, and uniforms. The 2nd photo is our dining room and kitchen eating areas that have been changed into these work stations. We receive by grade and by individual school a list of school supplies. We then make a list of students by grade and school and start packing all their school supplies. We then separate the bags by section or grade and school as seen in the 3rd photo. We utilize all the bedrooms to hold the quantity that we have. We even used the hallway from the dining room to the laundry room to hold shoes and sneakers for our sponsored children. Amy our intern is learning so much in what goes into organizing, purchasing, and packing for each individual child. She told us she was blown away in how much we can get with the amount we ask from our sponsors. Over the years God has given us good businesses to work with and also ways to stretch the $ as far as we can. We then pack up the van and deliver the supplies to the children. Normally I drop off Glenda, Amy and Aracely to each school and then I go back a repack for the following school to keep the day moving forward. We usually can deliver all 14 schools within the week. Then the process of purchasing extras starts. The teachers love to start the year with projects and or a ton of homework which requires more materials.

The top photo is our three ladies working in an elementary school.
The children try on the shoes to make sure everything fits and if not we take them back and get a size that fits better. Also the children review the school supplies and tell us if the teacher added anything new to the list so we can purchase what they need. Also on the far left bottom is Amy handing out text books to our students who are in grades 7-12. It is another step in the process in equipping our students for the school year. The following weeks ahead is purchasing all the text books and paying for the monthly payments, and making our packets to send back to all of our sponsors. In the bottom photo far right is Glenda and I talking to students who are in need. They were brought to our attention by the School Counselors who work with us in helping very poor students that have awards in excellence with their grades and or winning competitions in Science fairs and Spelling Bees. We have such a long list of students like these young men who are achieving even though they dont have the materials. They barrow books from other students, or borrow uniforms and or receive support from the teachers or faculty just so they can continue to study. Our passion is to reach 300 students this year. We are only missing 33 more sponsorships. Will you pray with us that our Lord will move in the hearts of many more people to sponsor child/children. Youre seeing a small part of the process but you will witness a huge change in a child by their graduation.
