For this assignment you will be explore the history of photography from two viewpointsthe
photographers and the invention and innovation of the camera.

Pick one photographer AND one inventor/invention to research about from the list below. SIGN
UP on the signup sheet to reserve your person and inventor/invention
2. Research (see prompts on page 2). Save relevant images to your H:/ drive as you are researching so
that you can use them for your visual journal.

YOUR RESEARCH. It is assumed that not every question will apply to EVERY photographer! Write your notes
on a separate paper or collect them in a word document. (DONT FORGET TO RECORD THE WEBSITES YOU
GOT YOUR INFORMATION FROM!)

For the Inventor/Innovation:

Research the following information about your inventor/innovation. Write your notes on a separate paper or
collect them in a word document

If its an invention who is responsible for it (name/company, etc)? If its an inventor what did they
invent? What does it do?
Include an explanation of who/what they are and how they/it impacted photography be specific
about the impact on photography, how did it change the camera or the photographic process, or
society?.
Relevant dates (key invention dates, birth/death, etc)
Relevant images (at least 2)

Journal Design Requirements:

Photographer Journal minimum 2-page spread
Invention Inventor Journal minimum 1-page
Both journals should:

Be easy to read (finished text should not be in pencil)

Be visually appealing (nice to look at)
Use more than one material/technique in its creation
