A. Write brief overview - (i.e. what is it; when did it pass; why
is it important; impact on health and physical education; etc.)
The Every Student Succeeds Act is a bill passed by the house that states
that the United States will adopt higher standards in academia in nearly
every state. This bill also states that if a student falls behind, the state will
have resources to help that student succeed. This was signed by
President Obama in 2010. This has a tremendous impact on all areas of
academia but especially on health and physical education teachers. Child
obesity is the highest its ever been and we as health and physical
educators can make an impact with our strong curriculum to help the youth
live a healthy lifestyle.

B. Write personal reflection - (i.e. opinion; role as a future health and/or

physical educator moving forward with this legislation)
This act is very important and I personally think it can go a long way in
education if people are helped accountable and teachers take pride into
adopting this acts philosophy. Teachers need to be role models and make
sure they have a helping hand if a student falls behind. We need to ensure
that we have unlimited resources for a student that is having trouble. This
act can be successful if everyone buys in!
