Attendance- The students will enter the


gym as the teacher takes attendance for
the class period.

Transition- Students will transition from


the attendance area to the center of the
gym so the teacher can go into the lesson
introduction.

9:20- 9:22

Warm Up- Students will run around the


outside of the gym to get their body
warmed up. After that, the teacher will
select a student to lead the class in 15
jumping jacks, 15 pushups, and 15 sit
ups.

Introduction- The teacher will inform the


students on the table tennis serve, why it
is important in table tennis, and how to be
successful at the serve. The teacher will
be demonstrating while giving the key
points to the serve.
Key Points:
Hold the table tennis ball flat in your hand
Handshake Grip when you serve. Hold
the paddle like you are giving the paddle
a handshake.
Without having the ball bounce, throw the
ball up in the air and hit the ball making
sure the ball bounces before the net and
after it to the opposing player's side.
Once you serve, get ready for the return
in a ready position.
Student Demonstration: The teacher will
have two students selected at random to
practice serving the ball back and forth.
The teacher will be looking for feedback

Safety Considerations: The teacher will
remind the students of safety
consideration of the gymnasium and to
watch out for the equipment and other
students in the class.

Activity 1: Hit the Spot


Students will be in a group of two or three
and will
Successfully serve and hit the hot spot on
their opponent's side.
Try to hit the hot spot with the serve as
many times in a row as they can.
Try to improve with every serve.
Accuray is being taught before power.
If there is a group of three then the
students will rotate in.
Demonstration: As the teacher is
demonstrating, the teacher will also be
explaining the activity so that activity time
is up and the students can get practicing.
Student Demo- The teacher will have two
students demonstrate the activity.
Extension Up: The students can move the
hot spots farther back if they are finding
the the original hotspot placement is too
easy.
Extension Down: The students can use
two hotspots to make the target bigger for
a greater chance at success.

will check for understanding by asking a
student to tell them what they are doing.
Anticipate Questions asked from
Students:
What if the ball hits the net? If the ball
hits the net then the person who serves
can try again but if it happens twice in a
row then the other person has an
opportunity to serve.
Transition: The students will be told to get
into groups of two or three and go to a
table tennis table (six of them)
Motivational Objective: While the students
are in activity the teacher will project his
voice and say to the students Let's see
who can get five hits on the hotspot in a
row!

Transition- The teacher will tell the


students to walk over to the center of the
gymnasium so the teacher can give
instruction on the next activity.
Activity 2: Table Tennis Round Robin.
Students will be on a team and will be
competing in a round robin style
tournament.
Each team will start at a table.
The games will go for the allotted time
that the teacher has. (Roughly 5-7
minutes)
Each team will keep score
After the time expires, the winning team
will move to the next table and the losing
team will move down a table.
This is a latter style movement flow.
The teams will be arranged by the
teacher prior to class.
