Focus of Lesson: Review of Table Tennis Skills into Tournament Day

(P) Perform 5 of each table tennis hit that includes the serve, backhand, and forehand in

Teacher Performance Objectives During the lesson the teacher will:
Explain the rules, safety, and regulations of all the activities during the lesson.
Address off-task behavior using effective teaching strategies so that the class flow is not
disrupted.
Give key points feedback to every students five to seven times during the first activity
and tournament play for improvement throughout the lesson.
Check for understanding 5 to 7 throughout the lesson so confusion does not occur.

Attendance- The students will enter the
gym as the teacher takes attendance for
the class period.

Transition- Students will transition from


the attendance area to the center of the
gym so the teacher can go into the lesson
introduction.

9:22-9:25

Warm Up- Students will run around the


outside of the gym to get their body
warmed up. After that, the teacher will
select a student to lead the class in 15
jumping jacks, 15 pushups, and 15 sit
ups. This will be the routine for PE class
every time we meet.

Introduction- The teacher will re-inform
the students on the table tennis serve, the

demonstrating while giving the key points
to the serve, forehand, and backhand.

Student Demonstration: The teacher will


have two students volunteers to practice
serving the ball back and forth. The
students will also rally and practice the
forehand and backhand that has been
practiced and demonstrated in previous

classes. The teacher will be looking for


feedback from the students. Both
corrective and positive.
Checking for Understanding: The teacher
will say what were the key points used in
the serve.
Safety Considerations: The teacher will
remind the students of safety
consideration of the gymnasium and to
watch out for the equipment and other
students in the class.

Students will be in a group of two or three
and will

skills taught in previous classes. This
activity will lead up to the tournament play
and will get the student re-familiarized
with table tennis before the tournament.
Demonstration: As the teacher is
demonstrating, the teacher will also be
explaining the activity so that activity time
is up and the students can get practicing
and prepared for the tournament.
Student Demo- The teacher will have two
students demonstrate the activity.
Extension Up: The students will try to rally
back and forth as many times as they
can.
Extension Down: The students can
practice one table tennis skill at a time.

(Example: just serving)


Checking for Understanding: The teacher
will check for understanding by asking a
student to tell them what they are doing.
Anticipate Questions asked from
Students:
What if the ball hits the net and then goes
over? If the ball hits the net and then
goes over this is called a let which
results in the server serving again. The
next time it happens it is a point.
Transition: The students will be told to get
into groups of two or three and go to a
table tennis table (six of them)
Motivational Objective: While the students
are in activity the teacher will project his

Transition- The teacher will tell the
students to walk over to the center of the
gymnasium so the teacher can give
instruction on the next activity.

Activity 2: Table Tennis Round Robin.


Students will be on a team and will be
competing in a round robin style
tournament.
Each team will start at a table.
The games will go for the allotted time
that the teacher has. (Roughly 5-7
minutes)
Each team will keep score
After the time expires, the winning team
will move to the next table and the losing
team will move down a table.

The teams will be arranged by the
teacher prior to class.

Checking for Understanding: The teacher


will ask the students if they have any
questions. The teacher will also ask a
student to tell him which way they are
rotating if they win or lose.
Transition- The teacher will tell the
students to collect the equipment, put it in
the bag or bin, and come to the center for
the closure of the lesson.

Closure- The teacher will.


Briefly go over the key points to the
serve, backhand, and forehand.
Ask a student step by step how to
perform one of the table tennis skills.
Tell the students that this is the last day of
table tennis and how much improvement I
saw.
