The controversy of extending the term of the President started when the government

notice that they havent reached their goal yet. Their program doesnt meet their expectations,
so they think that when they extend the term of the President, they can achieve those projects.
Two or three political quarters suggest an amendment to extend the Presidents term of office
beyond June 30, 2016. Extension of a Presidents term of office in a democratic government is
always a topic partisans and followers enjoy in telling the people/voters. A presidential term is
fixed, but extending it by a constitutional amendment is a political reality people need to face.
After being under the Marcos Dictatorship for 21 years, many Filipinos have developed
some sort of paranoia that whoever was the incumbent president would be doing what Marcos
did manipulate the system in order to go beyond the constitutionally mandated tenure for
President and hold on to power for as long as possible. They say that Marcos is a threat to our
democracy, but behind that idea, Marcos accomplished more achievements than other
Presidents. In his first term, he made progress in agriculture, industry and education. If our
government want to extend the term of presidency, our President should prove to the people
that he deserve to be given another term to be handled. His first term should have a good
development in our country, so we Filipinos can conclude that he has a good leadership.
Nowadays, our former presidents and our incumbent president, doesnt have the leadership that
our country needs. As a Filipino Citizen, we expect from our President to lead us to the right
path especially his cabinet members. Change must start within in the local government but the
members of the senate must be a good example for everyone. They should be the one excelling
in their own fields so our expectations from them meet our reality. If the President cant prove
anything to his citizens then, one term is good enough.
