Take a photo of the Chapter and the EIU Receptions at 6ish on Friday.
Officers will talk at the reception to help get service opportunities and get connections, be ready
to mingle!

Need 4 more service hours for this semester
Music Ed. Room! Always room for service there
Jazz Festival, sign-up before 3:00pm and get a free ticket to see the Count Basie Band. Volunteer
Meeting Thursday.
We will have a fundraiser to put money in the budget for next year, ideas??

Guess Speaker:
Dr. Shellie Gregorich, EIU Music Department Chair
Has a background in Piano and Music theory
Grew up in Washington State where there were no general music teachers.
Has a Bachelors of Arts degree in music from the University of Washington, a M.M. in Piano
Performance from The Boston Conservatory, and a Ph.D. in Music Theory from the University
of Oregon.
Wrote a book for piano pedagogy about how to read scores for piano.
Is working on building up the piano class at EIU
Will have a Chat with the Chair on February 2nd at 2:30 in 1524. Other dates include April 1st
Choral Methods will be a new class in Fall 2015 that will be required by all current freshmen.
Older students will be allowed to take this class or waive Choir requirement in replacement.
If you need a wavier, do not be afraid to come in and ask! They are easy to fill out, you just need

Changing your expectations will be the hardest part. Your 6th grade band will not sound like

The break in between practicum and student teaching was not as bad as it sounds.
Ed. TPA:
Follow the schedule and you will be fine
Dont freak out about it, you will go through it all before you will have to do it
Will cost $350

You must pass, it is high stakes now
At pre placement meeting, ask for you concentration to be in the first 8 weeks so you can do your
Ed. TPA in you strongest aria.
Be prepared to do Ed. TPA in another area as well
Dress up for your meetings
