This is considered a small group differentiated lesson. The CT has supplied students that
she feels need the extra assistance with counting coins. I will complete a variety of
activity to see where students are at to differentiate based on their individual needs.
Formative Assessment: Each student will complete a math review worksheet that uses
money in different ways. Based on students completion of this activity, students will be
split and receive a money bingo game based on their answers to the review worksheet
Summative Assessment: The completion of the differentiated activity.

o Students will receive a BINGO game that is relevant
to their ability to count and add coins. The three
groups are discussed in the differentiation
section of this lesson plan.

While the teacher is going around to each student they will


take notes about what the student is struggling with.
o They will look to see if the student is struggling with
values ranging from 1-50 , 50 - 85 , 85 $1.00

Students will receive one of the BINGO games based on the


data collected by teacher:
o Level 1: For Students that are capable of counting
coins ranging from 1-50
o Level 2: For students that are capable of counting
coins ranging from 50 - 85
o Level 3: For students that are capable of counting
coins ranging from 85 - $1.00
(The values on the game are not exact to the value, but vary
within 5 cents)
Students will play BINGO game where they use a die to go
around the game board and whenever they land on a big
that matches a value in the BINGO box, they will stamp
that box. Once they go 4 in a row they will win a prize.
Teacher will assist by going around and checking students
work and taking any notes of where the students may need
help.
This lesson is relevant to what the students are currently learning during their math
block. Students will get to experience using money in different ways, whether its:
matching the value to the coins or matching the coins to a value, giving a value, and
more.
