API-510 PRESSURE VESSEL INSPECTOR

(API101)

PROGRAMME OVERVIEW
This training course is intended for personnel with experience in plant inspection,
specially designed for plant maintenance or inspection engineers, who wish to have
better interpretation for working to the code. It gives a broad knowledge and prepares
participants for the API 510 examination. The course is an intensive one week course
with a special emphasis on the use of related codes and calculations.
TARGET GROUP
This class is designed to be applicable to all personnel working in the oil, gas and
petrochemical industry, and who are involved in the design, procurement, engineering
construction, operation, maintenance and inspection of pressure vessel and related
facilities.

Organisation and Certification Requirements
Types and definitions of maintenance inspections
Types of process corrosion and deterioration
Modes of mechanical, thermal and high temperature deterioration
Pressure vessel materials and fabrication problems
Welding on pressure vessels
Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods
Corrosion and minimum thickness evaluation
Estimated remaining life
Inspection interval determination and issues affecting intervals
Inspection relief devices
Repairs and alteration to pressure vessel
Rerating pressure vessels
Pressure testing after repairs, alterations and rerating
Inspection records and reports
Maintenance inspection safety practices
LEARNING OUTCOMES
Candidates will be trained and equipped with the knowledge necessary to:
Successfully pass to API 510 Pressure Vessel inspector certification exam
Effectively use major codes: ASME Sections V, VIII and IX.
Perform all basic vessel calculations needed for the API exam (e.g. tmin, test pressure,
MAWP, static head, MDMT, corrosion rates, remaining life etc.)
Use APIs requirements during inspection, repairs and alterations of pressure vessels
Review welding procedures (WPS/PQR) and welder performance qualifications (WPQ)
