News: Americans favour beer over wine in the US, with 41% of the Americans drinking beer while 31% prefer wine and 23% opting for s pirits , according to
market res earch company Gallup. Beer intake among Americans was at its hig hes t level in the las t decade, with wine preferences s urpas s ing beer in 2005,
when beer's popularity had decreas ed to 36%. However, wine remains the mos t popular drink for American women, with 46% choos ing it over beer and
s pirits compared with 17% of men. The number of breweries in the US reached 3,000 for the rs t time s ince before Prohibition, while domes tic wine
production increas ed by 6.3% in 2013, according to the Brewers As s ociation.
