I am a fourth year Chemical Engineering student at the University of Edinburgh. I am looking for a 6 month placement starting this summer. Working for FujiFilm in the Netherlands appeals to me as being in a new country would further my international interest and provide a great opportunity to learn Dutch.

I am a fourth year Chemical Engineering MEng student at the University of Edinburgh currently looking for a 6 month placement starting this summer. The internship will be part of the 5th year of my degree. Working at the FujiFilm Tilburg Research Laboratories would be a great opportunity to play an active role in the development of your colour paper and offset plates manufacturing facilities. I am originally from Spain, but grew up in Belgium where I attended an international school, making me completely fluent in English, French and Spanish. Moreover, I really enjoyed working in a multilingual environment during my summer internship at the European Council. Therefore, working for FujiFilm in the Netherlands appeals to me as being in a new country would further my international interest and provide a great opportunity to learn Dutch. Both research areas in your Tilburg facilities, separation membrane technologies and recombinant gelatine, are interesting and dynamic. During my year abroad in Canada at Queens University I was involved in a brewing design team and carried out multiple experiments involving yeasts. After getting familiarised with a relatively simple brewing setup, I would love to study, understand and improve your manufacturing processes of photo paper, offset plates, membranes or artificial gelatine. This year, I chose to take Separation Processes as one of my optional courses. Moreover, I have learnt about separation techniques while carrying out research for a literature review project on the flow synthesis of pharmaceuticals. The continuous nature of these processes enabled better yields and reduced waste. Nowadays, making new, greener, safer and more efficient products and manufacturing processes is a necessity due to the current unsustainable use of resources. Recently, FujiFilm has developed plates that require minimal water and chemicals and I would look forward to carrying out research and further develop these products to strengthen its market-leading position. Thank you for taking the time to consider this application and I look forward to hearing from you in the near future. Sincerely,
