An office suite
The personal computer was originally designed for the office and to perform
tasks traditional offices did using paper such as typing and accounts. Word
processing and spreadsheets are the basic components of an office software
suite.

Introduction to technology development in the area of cloud

and online applications
An emerging strategy for application software companies is to provide web
access to software previously distributed as local applications. Depending on
the type of application, it may require the development of an entirely different
browser-based interface, or merely adapting an existing application to use
different presentation technology. These programs allow the user to pay a
monthly or yearly fee for use
7 of a software application without having to install
it on a local hard drive. A company which follows this strategy is known as an
application service provider, and Asps are currently receiving much attention
in the software industry.

Security breaches on these kinds of applications are a major concern

because it can involve both enterprise information and private customer data.
Protecting these assets is an important part of any web application and there
are some key operational areas that must be included in the development
process. This includes processes for authentication, authorization, asset
handling, input, and logging and auditing. Building security into the
applications from the beginning can be more effective and less disruptive in
the long run.
In cloud computing model web applications are software as a service. There
is business applications provided as Seas for enterprises for fixed or usage
dependent fee. Other web applications are offered free of charge, often
generating income from advertisements shown in web application interface.
Many businesses are enabled by open source web applications such as ecommerce software that facilitates easily creating an online retail store. Most
businesses today do not need to buy data center hardware such as servers
because they are afford ably rented on a short term basis from a plethora of
hosting companies that provide turnkey implementations of web applications.
It is common for hosting providers to also offer packages of hardware and all
necessary software to support the business needs of a company. Innovations
in all aspects of web applications are providing tremendous economic value
by increasing competition by reducing barriers to entry for new companies.

Guide in using the online application

Sign into the Google Drive website with your Google account. If you dont
have a Google account, you can create one for free. Google Drive will allow
you to store your files in the cloud, as well as create documents and forms
through the Google Drive web interface.

Add files to your drive. There are two ways to add files to your drive. You can
create Google Drive documents, or you can upload files from your computer.
To create a new file, click the CREATE button.

The List mode will show you at a glance the owner of the document and when
it was last modified .The Grid mode will show each file as a preview of its first
page. You can change the mode by clicking the buttons next to the gear icon
in the upper right corner of the page.

10

Use the navigation bar on the left side to browse your files. My Drive is
where all of your uploaded files and folders are stored. Shared with me are
documents and files that have been shared with you by other Drive users.
Starred files are files that you have marked as important and Recent files
are the ones you have most recently edited.
You can drag and drop files and folders around your Drive to organize them
as you see fit.
Click the check box to select multiple files and folders. You can then perform
actions for these selected files by clicking the buttons at the top of the page. If
you are using the large icon view, the check box appears when you mark your
mouse over the document. There are more options in the More menu.
Click the Folder icon with a + sign to create a new folder in your Drive. You
can create folders inside of other folders to organize your files.

Search for files. You can search through your Google Drive documents and
folders using the search bar at the top of your page. Google Drive will search
through titles, content, and owners. If a file is found with the exact term in the
title, it will appear under the search bar as you type so that you can quickly
select it.
11

Download the app for your mobile device. You can download the Google Drive
app for your Android or IOS device which allows you to access your files from
your phone or tablet

Part 2

type of document you want to create.

13

Create a new file. Once youve selected your document type, you will be
taken to your blank document. If you chose Presentation or Form, you will be
greeted by a wizard that will help you configure the feel of your document

Name the file. At the top of the page, click the italic gray text that says
Untitled <file type>. When you click it, the Rename document window will
appear, allowing you to change the name of your file.

Edit your document. Begin writing your document as you would in its
commercially-equivalent. 14

Export and convert the file. If you want to make your file compatible with
similar programs, click File and place your cursor over Download As. A menu
will appear with the available formats. Choose the format that best suits your
needs

Conclusion
Now, Google is formally jumping into the cloud-based file storage and syncing
business, offering a service called Google Drive, which will compete with
products like Drop box and others by offering lower prices and different
features.
Google Drive did a good job in my tests with videos. It converts nearly every
common video format into a format it can play, right inside its website. This
process can take some time. While Google Drive can store music, it can't play
it directly via its website.
Google's new service also works with third-party document creation and
editing apps that are built to work with it. I used one, called Balsamic Mock
ups, to create a quick wire-frame diagram.
