Dear Investors,
Read, lead, and succeed with the Dino Light. The Dino Light is a book stand made of a
lightweight acrylic plastic. It comes with an adjustable book light with an attached page holder.
The stand is designed to hold the pages of the book open, while keeping it propped up on a hard
surface and can provide light to the pages if need be. It comes in black, red and blue. It is also
available in a children's version which comes in green and is made to look like a dinosaur. It will
be exactly 10in tall and 3 1/2in wide. These measurements are made to fit most standard size
books. My product is unique because it is a perfect mix of everything you need for a delightful
reading experience thats simple and easy. The Dino Light is targeted towards book lovers of all
ages. From novels to children's books, the Dino Light will assist in anyway.
This product is relatively cheap and easy to make. The production of one Dino Light
costs $11.50 per unit. I researched how much acrylic plastic is and found that a 12x12 sheet
costs $10.57; however, one sheet creates four stands so really one Dino Light needs only $2.64
worth of plastic. The book light on average costs about $8.80-$8.90 so in total the cost to product
one Dino Light is $11.50.
To get a better understanding to whom my consumers would be and how much to sell my
product for, I conducted a survey with 105 people. I asked everyone how much they would pay
for the Dino Light with a price range of $12 to $24, the prices going up by $2 increments. After
gathering all the data, I created two graphs. One graph showed the linear regression between the
amount of people surveyed and and costs per product. A linear regression is the line of best fit,
the average between all the price points. The other graph shows the quadratic regression between

the different costs and the total profit made with those costs. A quadratic regression shows the
parabola of best fit. A graph like that looks fairly similar to a scatter plot but the quadratic
regression shows the average whereas the scatter plot just shows the plots on the graph, not what
purpose they show. The vertex of the parabola (top point) is the optimum price to sell at. My
calculated optimum price was $16.30. If I were to sell at that price I would make a profit of
$4.80 per Dino Light sold. The two points where the parabola hits the x-axis are the breakeven
points, These points are the minimum and maximum prices I could sell at. My maximum break
even point was $23.55. My minimum breakeven point however was $9.05. Mathematically that
is correct but if I were to sell at that price, I wouldnt make any profit and be in debt.
Ive decided to sell the Dino Light for $16.50. I want to keep my price going with 50
increments and I dont think consumers will buy it for than $17.00. I estimate that I could sell 3
to 4 a day. I plan to sell 3 to 4 Dino Lights a day, my projected revenue for one month is
$1732.50 and so my projected profit for the first month would be $525. 50% of my profits will
go to literacy services in San Diego. 25% will be going to READ/San Diego, a service at the San
Diego Public Library that helps adults 18 years and older to read and write. The other 25% will
go to the Kids and Teen Sections in the San Diego Public Library. In addition, I will donate 5
Dino Lights to each service.
I would like to ask for a loan of $6,000. I would like to be prepared for at least 3 months
and it will take $2000 a month to keep up with costs. You should invest in my product because
reading is so important now. Reading puts you in a different place each time, a different world.
People read for pleasure and my product adds to that. It makes reading simple and fun.
Nowadays, kids and adults are missing out on the joy that reading gives by playing games on
their phones and tablets. My product could remind those kids and adults that reading is a better

and safer way to be entertained. It is proven that some LCD screens put strains on the eyes and
that going on devices before bed is bad. All of that could be reduced with the Dino Light. Please
consider investing in my product. Not only will you put a good product on the market, you will
also assist in getting monetary donations to the kids and teens section of the San Diego Public
Library while also helping out those who are unfortunately unable to read with the READ/San
Diego organization.
Thank You,
Abigail Sebert
