Modeling and Prototypes

Models are used to make observations, develop predictions and

test ideas against real world conditions. There are 3 types of
models, Conceptual, Mathematical and Physical. Conceptual
models are abstract models that use language and graphic-based
representations. Mathematical models use language of mathematics
to describe the behavior of the solution. Physical models are 3D
models that show the solution. A mockup is the representation of a
final non-functioning solution that is used to collect feedback. A
prototype is the final solution that can be used for testing the
design to develop the product further.

Structural Efficiency
Efficiency is the ratio of your output vs your input resources
developed vs resources supplied. Efficiency= output/ input=
resources developed/ resources supplied. Structural Engineering
efficiency is measured by weight being supported divided by the
weight of supporting structure. Efficiency= breaking weight/weight
of the crane boom.
