Organizational background
The World Food Programme activities include food assistance for nutrition, livelihoods, relief and
emergency school feeding, while also supporting humanitarian air and logistics services, food security
coordination and infrastructure rehabilitation projects, also based on an official request from the
Government of Egypt, WFP is providing food assistance to Syrian refugees residing in the greater Cairo
area, Alexandria and Damietta through a voucher Programme. This position is open to qualified
Egyptian candidates.
JOB PURPOSE:
To provide technical support on the development, maintenance, testing and implementation of IT
solutions in line with business requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Within delegated authority, and Under the direct supervision of the IT Officer , the incumbent will :
1. Write program code in order to support the development and implementation of efficient and
effective IT solution components.
2. Keep up-to-date technical systems documentation for developed IT solutions in order to support
systems maintenance.
3. Perform unit and integrated testing of new, enhanced or fixed code in order to ensure
completeness and adherence to technical specifications.
4. Assist in the installation, configuration and customization of IT systems ensuring compliance
with WFPs IT standards, guidelines and procedures.
5. Assist in the release of IT systems and provide early life support in order to prepare for and
enable proper use of the IT solution.
6. Resolve users queries independently, escalating if required, to ensure that standard IT questions
are answered and accurate information is provided.
7. Assist in the preparation of materials and the delivery of trainings on automated business
processes to ensure efficient and effective use of IT systems.
8. Contribute to the deployment and maintenance of mobile data collection Applications.
9. Collect and collate data, conduct basic analysis to support the development of accurate reports
FUNCTIONAL CAPABILITIES:
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Experience:
At least five years of progressively responsible job related experience in information technology or
information management, such as, Software development, Database Administration, web design,
registry or similar and at least one year at the G5 level or equivalent.
Strong experience in electronic cash and voucher and electronic payment platforms.
Experience in web, mobile and client-server applications development.
Excellent working knowledge of relational database
Experience in Software Design concepts and patterns.
Language:
Fluency in both oral and written communication in the UN language in use at the duty station
(English) and in the duty stations language, if different.
