Metro Bus & Orange Line

Train
Pakistan is the 4th largest country in respect of population.
The population of the Pakistan is about 200 million. Due
to increase in population, the needs of the public also
increase. Due to this the transportation sector is also
disturbed. There are least transportation sources
according to the population. Due to this Government of
Punjab starts metro bus service (Bus Rapid Transit)
system in four biggest cities of Punjab named Lahore,
Rawalpindi-Islamabad and Multan. Lahore and Rawalpindi
metro bus system are operational. Multan metro bus
system is under construction. Government of Punjab also
starts project of orange line metro train in only Lahore.
Lahore metro bus is consist of 27 kilometers. It has 29
stations. 86 buses are used in this system. It consist of
two lines. The route of metro bus starts from Shahdara to
Gajumata. The route covers dozens of residential and
commercial localities along the citys main artery
Ferozepur road, linking together Lytton road, Jain Mandar,
MAO College, Lower Mall, Civil Secretariat, Aiwan-i-Adal,
Chowk Katchehry (District Courts), Shrine of Hazrat Data
Ganj Bakhsh, Ravi Road, and Shahdra town. The cost of
project is about PRS 72 Billion. The system uses eticketing and Intelligent Transportation System wand. The
system is managed by the Punjab Metro bus Authority
(PMBA) with the IT part is being carried out in

coordination with Punjab IT Board. The price of per ticket


is PRS 20. 3 lac peoples has been used metro bus for
transportation daily. Government has to pay PRS 40 as
subsidy on per ticket.

The Rawalpindi-Islamabad Metro bus is consist of


22.5 kilometers. It has 24 bus station. 10 stations are
located in Rawalpindi and 14 stations are located in
Islamabad. 67 buses are used in this system. It consists of
two lines. The ticket system and ticket cost same as
Lahore metro system. The cost of the project is about PRS
44.37 billion. The route starts from secretariat terminal to
Sadar terminal. Daily 180000 people has been used this
system. Its a signal free project.
The Orange Line Train of Lahore Metro is an under
construction line of the Lahore Metro network in Lahore. It
will be evaluated and underground project. When
completed it will connect Raiwind, Multan Road, Mcleod
Road, Lahore Junction railway station and the Grand Trunk
Road. It consist of two lines. It will cost about USD 1.6
Billion. Daily 4 lac people will use this system.
These projects have revolutionized the transport sector.
These projects should be done in the other cities of
Pakistan.
