Dear Hiring Manager,
Please consider me as an applicant for your Manufacturing Design Engineering Internship opportunity. I
am an electrical engineering student at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and I am looking for experience in the
professional field. I saw this opportunity posted on the Cal Poly job site for students to look for future
professions, called Mustang Jobs.
I want to gain experience in the professional field through working for Apple. Apple devices and software
have always been part of my family because my uncle, Mark Doutt, worked at Apple. I currently use
multiple Apple devices, and I want to work for a company whose products I am familiar with. I believe
that I am a fit for Apple because I am excited to help innovate amazing new products. After using
products made by this company for over ten years, my experience and familiarity with Apple products
allows me to integrate right into a job environment for Apple. I am qualified for this manufacturing
design internship because the classes I have taken at Cal Poly have developed my skills in the electrical
engineering field. In my manufacturing engineering class, I gained the hands on experience of soldering,
wiring components together, and device installation. My electrical engineering classes have prepared me
with the knowledge of how to use electrical devices and how to create both simple and complex circuits.
These are all important skill sets for this internship and I believe that they qualify me as a good fit for this
opportunity.
During 2012-2105 I worked as a lifeguard at a local recreation center. Even though I do not have any past
experience in the electrical engineering field, I believe my time as a lifeguard at the Highlands Recreation
District has actually helped prepare me for future job opportunities in my major. As a senior lifeguard, I
was given key privileges to the pool with the responsibility of closing down and locking up the pool. I
also was expected to be the leader of the other guards when my boss was not on deck. As a responsible
person with leadership skills, I believe I can help contribute greatly to this job environment.
I would like the opportunity to work for Apple as a Manufacturing Design Intern. With my skill set, I
believe that I can become an important part of the Apple work environment. I am willing to retrain for
this internship as well as work in a set schedule. I wish to set up an interview with you at a time that is
