Not only did Sophia Stiles (#10) lead her Malta

MEttes to back-to-back State Class B titles, this past
Thursday she was named Gatorades Montana Girls
Basketball Player of the Year. The bad news for the
rest of the Class B ranks, next season the MEttes

go in on a 52 game winning streak and Sophia has

accomplished the previous-mentioned information
as a junior; shes got another year to go as a Malta
MEtte! She is pictured above playing defense
against the Scotties during the District 2B title game.

Slam the Dam 2 this Saturday

On your mark, Get set, GO!! The Fort Peck

Senior Citizens are once again sponsoring a fun walk/
run across the face of Fort Peck Dam on Satueday,
March 19th. It is called SLAM THE DAM 2 (Run
with the Wind).
This is a non-competitive walk/runno times will

the walk/run will begin. You will be driven back to
your car when you complete the walk/run.
Every participant receives a finish souvenir.
Water and fruit will also be provided.
Cost of the walk/run is $5.00 per personand
the event is for ALL ages. Bikes or dogs are NOT
welcome.
Registration will be from 9:00-10:00 that
morningno pre-registration is needed. However,
there are registration forms available at Glasgow High
School and Nashua High School (students under the
age of 18 must have a parent sign the registration/
release form), Ft. Peck Town Office and Ft. Peck
Credit Union.

The walk/run starts Saturday morning at 10:00.
Proceeds will benefit Senior Citizens projects.
Supplemental funding is being provided by Thrivent
Financial. For further information, call Donna at

Today is
National
Pi Day!

Pi Day is celebrated on
March 14th (3/14) around
the world. Pi (Greek letter
) is the symbol used in
mathematics to represent a
constant the ratio of the
circumference of a circle
to its diameter which is
approximately 3.14159.

Pi has been calculated
to over one trillion digits
beyond its decimal point.
As an irrational and
transcendental
number,
it will continue infinitely
without
repetition
or
pattern. While only a
handful of digits are needed
for typical calculations, Pis
infinite nature makes it a fun
challenge to memorize, and
to computationally calculate
more and more digits.

National Pi Day is also
a day that lots of pizza chains
jump on the bandwagon to
celebrate, peddling some
great deals on pizza pies.
In fact, Pizza Hut called on
all math experts and Pizza
Hut fans nationwide with a
chance to win free pie,
thats 3.14 years of pizza
by going online and being
the first to answer one of
the three math problems
involving pi (answers were
time stamped).
