Entering the Prayer Hall after consuming

Raw Garlic or Onion

Allama Abdussattār Hamdānī

From Salāh of a Mu’min:

Issue: it is unlawful to enter the prayer hall after eating raw garlic or onions until the unpleasant
smell clears. This is as the foul stench of raw onion and/or raw garlic hurts the mala’ikah [angels].

Imām al-Bukharī (d. 256H) and Imām al-Muslim (d. 261H) rađiyAllāhu ánhuma related a blessed
Hadīth ascribing to Sayyidunā Jabir rađiyAllāhu ánhu that the Beloved Messenger of Allah
şallAllāhu álayhi wa sallam said,

Do not enter the mosque after eating from this foul-smelling tree/plant for it causes pain
and distress to the angels and to the people.1
