a breath of air (aura) as they begin their journey towards recovery and autonomy.

Mission: To give to my community with an open hand, and pave room for healing, light and

encouragement in every situation, no matter how dire the circumstances may be.

Leadership Artifacts: Joining theHealthy Choices for Me (2015) teamwas a wonderful

chance for me to help out and make a difference in the lives of those that are less fortunate.
In the past, I have worked at a teacher's assistant (TA) in the early childhood department and
as a substitute TA in the elementary grades. The school nurse would coordinate different
activities to promote healthy eating and exercise habits. My role as a TA entailed me to
encourage the students participation andensure that the students were rewarded for their
participation. Witnessing the changes the children made with their snack choices and recess
activities opened my eyes to see the impact education can have in promoting healthy choices.
This experienceinspired me to act as a leader and engage inadditional programs such as
Healthy Choices for Me to promote health and well-being.

Leadership Theory Analysis: I believe that over the years my leadership style has been
evolving. Today, I would say that my leadership style is most congruent with authentic
leadership. Authentic leaders have been identified to be self-aware, genuine, fair-minded, and
ethical (Clapp-Smith, Vogelgsand & Avev, 2009). I am aware of my strengths, I am determined
in bringing about unity and harmony, and I take pride in being a sincere and ethical person.
My Strengths (Rath, 2007)

Empathy My nature encourages others to express their innermost thoughts

and feelings, and I refrain from judging them. My ability to sense someones
emotions, often eases the persons anxiety.

Harmony - I like people. I related to them easily because I am very strong in

adjustment. I take the shape of the vessel in which I am poured, so I do not
irritate easily.

Intellection- My curiosity draws me to speculate about intangible and

abstract aspects of life. My time spent alone is usually used to reflect on my
life and sort out the kind of person I am what is really important.

Restorative- I have a desire to move up in whatever I am involved in. I am

growth oriented and in order to qualify for more important positions, I will
acquire specific behaviors, techniques, skills, knowledge, or experience.

Input- My mind is open and absorbent. I naturally soak up information in the

same way that a sponge soaks up water.

Leadership plan:

One Year: By the end of my first year of practice, I will become a Level I
educator in addition to making arrangements for continuing education
courses.
Five Years: After 5 years of practice, I will exhibit research involvement
on the effectiveness complementary alternative medicine has in
engagement of occupations.
