Unit Summary:
There are three measures of Central Tendency, namely: Mean, Median, and Mode.
The mean (or average) is the most popular and well known measure of central tendency. The
mean is equal to the sum of all the values in the data set divided by the number of values in
the data set. The median is the middle score for a set of data that has been arranged in order
of magnitude. The mode is the most frequent score in our data set. On a histogram it
represents the highest bar in a bar chart or histogram.
Through group activity, with each group having different situational problems, the
students share their knowledge on how to compute the center of the data given. Through the
use of MS Excel, the students can easily manipulate the data.

Procedures:
Day 1
1. The teacher lets the students listen to a music entitled "Mean, Median, Mode, and
Range (Lazy Song Parody)" for motivation.
2. The students are given handouts that contain the topic for the discussion.
3. Discuss the Mean to the class and how it is computed. Give students various
examples. (Discussion is through a PowerPoint Presentation)
4. Let the students give their own examples which involve solving for mean. Ask them
if they have questions and answer it.
5. Continue the discussion on Mode and give an example. In giving the example, the
teacher shows to the class a brochure of different mobile networks and asks the
students which network/s they are using. The network which is used mostly by the
students is considered as the mode. (Discussion is through a PowerPoint
Presentation)
6. Continue discussing about Median and give various examples. (Discussion is
through a PowerPoint Presentation)
7. To assess students' learning, the teacher gives worksheets on Mean, Median, and
Mode. Let the students answer the worksheet individually. After answering is the
checking of answers that involves participation of students.
8. The teacher gives an assignment which is found in the class' group wall in
Facebook.
9. For further understanding about the topic and if the students have confusions, the
teacher lets them watch a video found in YouTube.
Day 2
1. Checking of assignment.
2. The teacher gives a group activity involving MS Excel. Group the class into four. In
the group, let the students get the ages, height, and weight of each members and
encode the gathered data in MS Excel. Compute the Mean, Median, and Mode of the
data using MS Excel.
Day 3
1. Determine the students' mastery of the topic through giving of quiz.
