ZM Mentoring Program

The ZM Mentoring Program is designed to reach all paraprofessionals who are new to ZumbrotaMazeppa Public Schools. By uniting experienced paraprofessionals with probationary
paraprofessionals, the purpose of this program is to provide support, encourage professional
development and enhance the teaching performance during the difficulty first years in the
teaching profession.

Program Goals
The following are the goals of the Zumbrota-Mazeppa Mentorship Program:
To promote personal and professional growth through dialogue and reflection,
To increase student achievement through the improvement of quality teaching,
To foster positive relationships between students, staff, parents, administrator and
community members,
To encourage collaboration in order to meet the needs of diverse learners in our
community,
To eliminate isolation of new paraprofessionals and those new to the district,
To develop leadership capabilities in experienced paraprofessionals, and
To retain quality paraprofessionals with the ZM School District.
Expectations
1st Year: *Attend Orientation Day (Sept 1) prior to the start of the school year
*Meet at bi-monthly with mentee.
*Attend monthly Mentor/Mentee meetings (mandatory) if coaching arrangements will be
made for attending
meetings.
*Stipend for Mentors

October 14, 3:30pm 4:30pm
December 9, 3:30pm 4:30pm
February 10, 3:30pm 4:30pm
April 13, 3:30pm 4:30pm

Confidentiality
It is important that new paraprofessionals are able to discuss problems openly with the
mentor, so that they may be addressed in a timely and individual manner. The mentor is
not an evaluator but, rather, a collaborator with the new paraprofessional. As a result of
this confidentiality, the mentor is not expected to share written or verbal information with
many evaluator/administrator.
