Differences between Prokaryotic, Eukaryotic cells, Viruses, and

Understanding Cellular Processes
TEK: Biology Grades 9, 10, or 11
(c) Knowledge and skills.
(4) Science concepts. The student knows that cells are the basic structures of
all living things with specialized parts that perform specific functions and that
viruses are different from cells. The student is expected to:
(A) compare and contrast prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells;
(B) investigate and explain cellular processes, including homeostasis, energy
conversions, transport of molecules, and synthesis of new molecules; and
(C) compare the structures of viruses to cells, describe viral reproduction, and
describe the role of viruses in causing diseases such as human immunodeficiency
virus (HIV) and influenza.

This learning web site is intended for the STEM objectives in school as well as
History, and English. It is a free web site that is available to anyone with internet
access and even has an SAT exam prep available to students. The information given
through this web site is not biased, rather it provides factual information. For
instance, it offers valuable, factual information over prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells
and it even includes videos and figures. The information on this website was last
updated in 2016 and the information appears to be correct. This web site provides
the fundamental information over the cells and is also a reliable source due to its
relativity to other web sites.
Brightstorm Biology: Cell Functions and Processes:
This web site is a web site that helps with Math, Science, English, and ACT and SAT
prep. This web site is also free to use and provides instructional, informative videos
that were made by professionals and experts. The information given through this
web site is not biased and provides useful information and is well organized. There
are videos representing the Cellular processes and can easily help both auditory and
visual learners. It also serves as a good source to use to learn about information in
biology and cells. Based on the web site, it was last updated in 2016 and appears to
be a reliable source for students to use according to the information provided.
MicrobeWorld: Viruses
This web site is free to use and provides information over microorganisms. Based on
what is seen on the web site, it appears that the information provided is a bit blunt
and covers the basics of viruses. However, it does not provide all of the information
needed about viruses. The web site does not contain much variation, but rather it
mainly provides paragraphs of information. The web site was last updated in 2014
and there appears to be no author. There is however a public outreach manager

that can only be contacted through e-mail. This source does not seem to be too
reliable and therefore should probably be avoided or students can use a different
web site that is more credible.
