CMT Period 1
Quarter 3 Reflection
1. Star Trek T Shirt- On my Star Trek t-shirt I put a star some people hiking
and a Star TRek symbol. I used Photoshop to design this shirt. The most
challenging part was coming up with an idea because Ive only seen one Star
Trek movie. I dont think this assignment should be used next year because not
everyone has seen Star Trek.
2. Quickfire Design Challenge Logo- For this assignment I used the pen
tool in Illustrator. This assignment was very hard for me because Im not very
familiar with Illustrator and the tools that go with it. I think it was a fun assignment
but maybe needed a little more direction on what the client wanted. I think this
assignment should be included next year.
3. Vans shoe (hand drawn)- For the Vans shoes we were given a template
and we were told to hand draw on the shoe. I liked this assignment even though I
dont usually enjoy hand drawn projects because Im not good at drawing. This
assignment is very interesting because lots of students wear these Vans so it is
fun to design your own. I think this assignment should be included next year.
4. Vans shoe (Photoshop)- It was cool to be able to take something hand
drawn and recreate it on the computer. I used Photoshop for this and used the
paintbrushes and paint bucket tools a lot to color the shoe the same color I had
drawn it in. I enjoyed this part of the assignment better because you can get
cleaner lines and such on the computer. I think this assignment should be
included next year.
5. Personal logo- This is an assignment I had a lot of trouble with. I used
Illustrator but I dont know enough of those tools to be able to make the shapes
and designs. Once Ms. Lawson walked us through it I understood it but my logo
doesnt look as good as Id like it to. I do not think this assignment should be
included next year since we do so many logos already.
6. I am CTE poster- For this assignment I used the pictures provided to
make a collage that represented the CTE program. I used Photoshop for this
assignment and used tools such as gradient tool to add a gradient to the center. I
liked this assignment but didnt know how to make it more unique. I think this
assignment should be included next year because this course is a CTE program
and it is important to learn about the other courses and represent ours.
7. Webcam/self portrait- For this assignment I used Photo Booth and
Photoshop to create a painting of me. I didnt enjoy this assignment because it
was hard to match the color from the webcam photo. If I hadnt used a filter it
might have been easier. I dont think assignment should be included next year.
8. National Park Poster- I did this assignment on Yellowstone National
Park. I enjoyed this project because it was fun to come up with a design to

represent our beautiful National Parks. They were celebrating 100 years so that
is also very important to have to poster show that. I think this assignment should
be included next year.
9. Seed Packet Design- I used Photoshop and a template to design my
seed packet. I added a texture to the template using the filters so it would look
like paper. I thought this assignment was fun because you can find flower jokes
or puns to make your packet look better. I think this assignment should be
included next year.
10. Video Game Case Design- For this assignment I used the template given
which made it much easier. I looked up the cover of an XBox game to help with
the layout. I think this assignment was hard to be creative on since the theme
was a dodgeball game. I dont think this assignment should be included next
year.
11. Set of Stamps- For this assignment I used a template and Photoshop.
This assignment was fun because we could choose our theme for the stamp set.
I chose the Arizona Diamondbacks and used the magic wand to select where I
want the picture so it would easily snap into place. I think this assignment should
be included next year.
12. CMT Logo Design- For this assignment I used Photoshop to make a
colorful logo. I wanted it to be colorful to represent the brightness of learning and
education. The colors are used to make people feel different things when they
look at it. I also used the abbreviation CMT in the logo and put the letter in
squares made using the rectangle tool. I think this assignment should be
included next year.
13. Personal Stationery Set Logo- For this my stationery set logo I used
Illustrator. I used the pen tool to make the drawing part of my logo. I used my
initials and made them fit together to form a small drawing. Then I typed the job
title which is graphic designer. I would include this assignment next year.
14. Personal Stationery Business Card- For this assignment I first put my
logo I made on the card. Then I typed all the information such as phone number,
email, website, etc. I added a red rectangle on the side for decoration using the
rectangle tool. I think this assignment should be included.
15. Personal Stationery Letterhead- For this assignment I put my logo on
again and the red rectangle along the side. Then I put my email, phone number,
and website. Then at the bottom I put the address. I added red dots and a line for
more decoration. I think this assignment should be included next year.
16. Personal Stationery Envelope- For the envelope I looked up the format
of a business envelope. I added my logo and the decorations again. Then I put
the return address in the corner next to my logo. I think this assignment should
be included next year.
17. Animated .gif sprite- I used Photoshop for this assignment. I looked
online for a sprite that I could make into a .gif. It was surprisingly easy and it was

really cool to be able to make the pictures move. You see .gifs a lot and it is really
fun to make them yourself. I think this assignment should be included next year.
18. Personal Animation- For this assignment I also used Photoshop. I made
a grid so I could make pixel drawings. Then after I drew all the shapes and
frames I used timeline to make the animation. It was very difficult having so many
frames and I didnt like how mine turned out. I don't think this assignment should
be included next year.
19. Design a cereal box: digital layout- For this assignment I used the
template given to create my mini cereal box. I used the nutrition fact generator to
add that to make it look authentic. I also added things such as a prize and games
on the back to make it look like a real cereal box. I think this assignment was
really fun and that it should be included next year.
20. Design a cereal box: printed and displayed- After I was done with my
cereal box I printed it out. After printing I cut it out and put it together. I enjoyed
seeing the actual project in 3D form since usually we just design things on the
computer. I think this assignment should be included for next year.
