RE: Shawn Flynn
To Whom It May Concer:
It is my pleasure to write this letter on behalf of Shawn Flynn, math teacher and department Curriculum Facilitator at Campbell High
School. Shawn and I have been colleagues at CHS since 2001, and for a number of years, we worked together on a number of
administrative projects for our respective departments. Iam an English teacher who served as the department CF from 2009-2014,
Over the years that Ihave known Shawn, { have seen him as a classroom teacher, coach, and now, during his tenure as department
Curricultim Facilitator, asa leader in our building, In addition to the annual requirements for our CFs, such as budgets, inventory of
books and supplies, leading department meetings, and being a member of the CHS Leadership Team and District Curriculum
Committees, Shawn has also worked tirelessly to revamp our math curriculum to meet the demands of our changing world and help
cour students along the way. He has developed an SAT Prep course with one of my English colleagues, which has never been more
popular. He has presented to our faculty on a number of occasions about testing, data analysis, and curriculum revision during
Professional Development workshops and faculty meetings.
While we worked together as CFs, Shawn and I streamlined a system for using our Media Lab for NWEA testing for freshmen and
sophomores, as well as the set-up and promotion of the NECAP state tests forall of our juniors. Shawn took it upon himself to do
additional data analysis, and identified those students who would need additional supports or tutoring before their testing began.
Although those tests have now been replaced with Smarter Balanced, I am sure Shawn will continue to work with teachers and
students to prepare for these new assessments, Shawn is highly respected by both his students and his peers.
(Over the years, he has supplemented his time in the classroom by being a multi-sport coach and earning the respect of people around
Cour state for his abilities there as well. And somehow, in the middie of all ofthat, he has also managed to complete a graduate degree
in Administration,
I would recommend Shawn Flynn for any position as an Administrator. He has proven to me, and to the rest of our colleagues, that he
can be an invaluable member of any team. Of course, if he were to leave CHS, I would be very sad to see him go, but I know he will
continue to do wonderful things where ever he ends up.
Sincerely,
tite
