Letter of Recommendation for Shawn Flynn

It is a great honor to write this letter of recommendation on behalf of Shawn Flynn. You
all have the benefit of knowing Mr. Flynns stellar qualities in the classroom. I would like
to share my insights on his fortitude in athletics, and where those qualities intersect.
Shawn Flynn has an unparalleled attention to detail. His passion for work crosses all
boundaries of his profession. In my nineteen years of coaching I have known very few
coaches who could compete with the countless hours of dedication in season and out of
season for the benefit of their team. Legendary New Hampshire Coaches such as Brian
OReilly from Pinkerton Academy, Tom Sawyer from Londonderry and Christiane Raabe
from Bow are among the few names who people speak of with the highest regard. Shawn
Flynn has become one of those people not from the thousands of students he has to select
from for his teams, but because he poured himself into every one of his players. That is
what has made his teams so successful over the years. They were the true reflection of
their leader.
The organization it takes to run an athletic department simply needs the attention to detail
that Shawn Flynn brings to every aspect of his profession. The interpersonal skills
required to be a successful athletic director is a trait that Mr. Flynn possesses far and away
beyond all in the athletics world. I have experiences Shawn Flynn resolving conflicts
between players, players and coaches and coaches and parents. Even his rapport with
officials across New Hampshire has been noted when he can enter a thought into a conflict
between an official and an opposing coach and suddenly like a peacekeeper has
deescalated a situation that he wasnt even a part of.
The Athletic Director is a leader in more ways than just sports. Their respect is not
demanded, but instead earned through their own dedication, passion and hard work.
Shawn Flynns passion and dedication is palpable among his colleagues. Just being
around him makes you want to be a better professional, if for no other reason, than to
simply garner his respect. It has been an honor to work with him in the past. Shawn
Flynn is the ideal candidate for the position of Athletic Director.
Respectfully Submitted
