I. Engagement: The activities in this section capture the student's attention, stimulate
their thinking and help them access prior knowledge.
Reading nutrition labels to identify the amount of sugar. Students will work in
groups of 2 to find the amount of sugar in grams.
IVb. Extension: This section allows for differentiated instruction plansmodifications for
adaptive learners; added depth or breadth of concepts for gifted/talented.

V. Evaluation Assesses both learning and teaching and can use a wide variety of
informal and formal assessment strategies.
