G-O-EQ CHECKLIST
GOAL-OBJECTIVE-ESSENTIAL QUESTIONS
Are they clearly based on a content area?
Is the goal broad? Does it provide the gist of what the teacher wants students to learn? Can you

see it possibly being used for multiple lessons in an unit? Does it begin with Students will?
Is the verb general?

Does the objective start with Students will be able to? Is the verb that immediately follow
that phrase MEASURABLE? Can it be covered in one lesson? Is the essential question in the
form of a question? Does it relate back to the objective? BONUS: Is it a higher-level question
(probably beginning with how or why)?

SoWhat was done well? How could the 3 parts be edited/adjusted to be better written, if
at all?

OTHER ESSENTIAL CHECKLIST

Do they provide 1-2 standards that align with G-O-EQ?
Have they identified vocabulary that would be important to understanding this lessons content (skim through the
rest of the lesson to see if any content jargon pops up)? Are there other words that should be included?

Do you think the current furniture set up of BH 119 or BH 343 will work in this lesson? Do they need to group the
students any particular way?

Have they listed everything theyll need to present the lesson? Links? Names of handouts? Titles of presentations?
Realia? What do you think they are missing?

If theyre not already using it, is there any way this lesson could be improved by incorporating technology or a
math/literacy strategy?

ACTIVITIES CHECKLIST
Is there a clear beginning? If not suggest one.
Does the middle contain an activity? Is it clear how it will run? If not, ask clarifying questions.
How does the lesson resolve (not just, And thats all we have for you)? If it doesnt suggest an
appropriate wrap up/assessment.

Do you think the pacing is appropriate? Why/why not?

Are their instructions detailed? COULD YOU STAND UP RIGHT NOW AND DELIVER THIS
LESSON SIMILAR TO WHAT YOU THINK THE PLANNING GROUP IS ENVISIONING?

CONCLUDING CHECKLIST
Are there any adaptations the group should be planning for? Have they
considered needs of ELL, Special Education, or Advanced students?

Are they addressing at least 2 modalities? Is there anything in their lesson

that could be tweaked to hit on other learning styles?

What were some of the strategies they used? Did they miss anything?
