Kappa!
Phi Theta Kappa celebrates
its 97th birthday and we
couldnt be prouder of what
it has become! In the year
1918, Phi Theta Kappa
Honor Society was
established to honor the
students at two-year
community colleges who
excelled academically. With
only six students inducted
the first year, Phi Theta
Kappa began to grow all
across the United States
and soon, it became a
distinguished society with
not only national
foundations but also
international. Now, Phi
Theta Kappa honors

Palau, and many other
nations all over the world.

We celebrate this
commemorative day every
year as Founders Day on
November 19th. This year,
our Psi Upsilon Chapter
celebrated Founders Day
by attending a luncheon at
The English Rose Tea Room
in Virginia Beach. Members
and officers enjoyed a
lovely lunch where they got
the opportunity to eat
amazing English food while
creating unforgettable new
memories. Thank you to
everyone who joined us in

The Psi Upsilon Chapter

attended the annual Boy
Scouts Pumpkin Chunkin at
the Pipsico Scout
Reservation in Surry County
where our Chapter set up an
informative booth to teach
the Boy Scouts about
Virginias invasive species.
Our booth had educational
hands-on displays along with
several instructional books
detailing the dangers of
these unpleasant critters
and the profound negative
impact they have on our
environment.

Our Chapter is currently

looking for an artist to create
a design based on our new
mascot, the owl. You can
submit your drawing to us by
sending our Facebook page a
personal message and
attaching your file. Once we
have received all entries, we
will post all drawings on
Facebook and cast a vote
based on the one that best
represents Psi Upsilon. We
look forward to seeing your
